World Mission Day - 18 Oct 2020

CATHOLIC MISSSION AUSTRALIA

Today we gather together as one united Catholic community in celebration and support for mission programs around the world.

Pope Francis explained in his World Mission Day message for 2020 that the support given aims to meet both the spiritual and material needs of people and the Church;

“The celebration of World Mission Day is an occasion for reaffirming how prayer, reflection and the material help of your offerings are so many opportunities to participate actively in the mission of Jesus in his Church.”

One example of mission work that you can support this World Mission Day is the Arrupe Centre, run by Bishop Enrique Figaredo Alvargonzalez and his team in the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang in north-west Cambodia.

The Centre supports children and young adults with disability, providing them with a safe home, education and career opportunities. The Church also reaches out to families of people with disability through food programs, home repair and scholarships for siblings of children with a disability.

Today, I encourage you to take up Pope Francis’ call to pray, reflect and give in support of vital mission programs like the Arrupe Centre. Please click here to make your generous donation today.

Your gift will help the Arrupe Centre and similar programs supported by Catholic Mission around the world.

Thank you very much for your faithful support this World Mission Month.

Yours in Christ,
Fr Brian Lucas
