Br Vincent (Francis Burton) Laurisen SSS RIP

Br Vincent (Francis Burton) Laurisen SSS RIP

It is with much sadness that the Blessed Sacrament Congregation in Melbourne announces the passing of Brother Vincent SSS into the eternal grace of God. Br Vince was a familiar face around the grounds of St Francis’ Church.  You would have seen him in his black habit – taking census each year in the month of May.

Br Vincent died peacefully at St George’s Hospital, Kew, on Saturday 4 April 2020, aged 90. Vincent was professed in the Blessed Sacrament Congregation on 15thAugust 1962 in Toowoomba. Prior to joining religious life, he worked on a cane farm and later on locomotives. Br Vincent served the Lord faithfully and generously over many years accepting appointments with the Australian Province and mainly residing at St Francis’ Monastery, Melbourne. He will be missed by his extended family, his SSS brothers and his many friends. He will be remembered for his gentleness and prayerfulness. At peace in the Lord’s embrace.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, a private and funeral will be held for Br Vince.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.  Please return to this page for further notice.
